Blume Founders Fund
Blume Founders Fund is a carve-out program by Blume, which aims to support early and idea-stage founders with capital, mentorship, and community, enabling experimentation with bold ideas and providing access to Blume’s network and platform at the earliest stage.
- Blume Founders Fund is a special initiative by Blume Ventures, designed to support idea-stage and early-stage founders with capital, mentorship, and access to Blume’s extensive network and community.
- The fund typically invests between $25,000 and $100,000 (and in some cases up to $250,000 in later iterations) in startups that may not fit into Blume’s core investment program but are promising and have strong connections to the Blume ecosystem.
- The program is intended to help founders experiment with ambitious ideas (“moonshots”) and to back raw talent at the very earliest stages, especially those who are highly referred or have a relationship with Blume but may not align with the core fund’s constraints.
- Blume Founders Fund does not reserve capital for follow-on investments; it is designed to provide a first cheque and leverage Blume’s brand, network, and resources to help founders build and scale.
Capital Structure
Blume Ventures has raised multiple funds since 2011:
- Fund I (2011): Blume closed its first fund at approximately $22 million (~₹100 crore at then exchange rates), primarily from domestic investors.
- Fund II (2016): The second fund closed at $60 million (~₹400 crore), with participation from international institutional LPs.
- Fund III (2019): The third fund closed at $102 million, giving Blume the power to Blume to write larger cheques for their portfolio companies.
- Fund IV (2022): The fourth and latest fund is the largest, with a corpus of around $290 million.
Blume Ventures has also launched dedicated Opportunity Funds and Support Funds to support growth-stage investments in breakout companies. These opportunity funds, raised in 2018, 2021, and 2022, have been used to double down on category leaders and help strong performers from earlier fund grow further.
